Bible Study

WHY WOULD A GREAT MIND LIKE YOURS DO A BIBLE STUDY LIKE THIS?

The Bible Timeline is basic enough to suit those who haven’t studied the Bible before while at the same time offering ways to go deeper that will challenge the Bible study veteran.  Salvation history is covered from its beginning in Genesis through the coming of Christ and the establishment of the Catholic Church.

You will study key Old Testament passages in light of their fulfillment in Christ.  You will also gain a greater appreciation for and understanding of the Scripture readings you hear in Mass.      It’s a great way to encourage and be encouraged in learning how God’s Word applies to your life.  General principles for reading the Bible are taught and participants are encouraged to continue on the life-long “great adventure” of learning to know God through Scripture.  And if that all isn’t enough, it will help you lay a strong foundation for further Bible reading, meditation and study.

Answers to some concerns you may have…

I’d like to do it but that’s a lot of money.  While $44.95 may sound like a lot of money, there are several points to consider.  It’s a 24 week program—that averages out to about $1.50 a week.  For less that the cost of a cup of coffee at Dunkin Donuts or It’s a Grind, you are participating in the number one Bible study in the nation.  Look over the rest of the information on this sheet to find some of the many benefits!

Twenty-four weeks is a long time, I don’t think I can make that commitment. Learning that lasts takes time; the benefits of participating these twenty-four weeks will most likely be eternal! Approached with an open mind and lots of enthusiasm, it will help you grow in faith and in your relationship with God and ultimately it’s our relationship with God that’s most important – without a good relationship with God, eternal life would be hell – literally!

Two-hour sessions, are you kidding?  Trust me, we can relate to that thought, however a very important part of the study is interacting with others who are studying it with you.  This interaction helps deepen and expand the learning that will take place.  In combination with that and the video you’ll learn many things, and better understand the Bible, salvation history, even the Catholic approach to the Bible and what a treasure it is.

I looked at the list of materials – I don’t need all that stuff, can’t I just get the books?  Actually, no.  The kits were created and fine-tuned, each component of the Great Adventure Bible Study kit is integral to making the study as effective as can be.  The various pieces of the kit help the experience to be multi-sensory – giving you something to see, hear, and touch.  The more senses you involve the better the learning takes root.  Several of the pieces will also serve in the future as a quick review and reminder of all you have learned.

What people are saying:  "I am impressed with the methodology and growth of The Great Adventure: a Journey through the Bible. The canonical approach that The Great Adventure employs is a marvelous way to introduce the faithful to salvation history. When Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition and the Magisterium are all brought together in study the result is a clearer picture of God's will, resulting in a roadmap for living. The Great Adventure, being faithful to Dei Verbum (the Second Vatican Council's Constitution on Divine Revelation), is bearing much fruit in the Church today and contributing to a stronger, more informed laity."

Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I.
Archbishop of Chicago

"We used The Great Adventure Bible Timeline 24-part study last year and found that it gave us the clearest and most accessible understanding of the Old Testament that any of us had ever had. It was the best teaching I had received since seminary days. It is great to know there is a series available that presents such solid biblical and scholarly information and does so in a highly engaging and captivating way. This was the first time that I have seen that any Bible study program was able to relate all of the books of the Old Testament into a clear and coherent system. We all felt that from now on, whenever we heard an Old Testament reading at Mass, we could easily relate it to the larger picture of God’s plan of salvation. We have since used Adventures in Matthew and Adventures in Acts. Both are excellent studies which get right to the heart of their scriptural issues, and do so in a clear and highly engaging manner."

"I found The Bible Timeline Study to be contagious, and the more I studied, the hungrier I got for the word of the scriptures as well as the overall cultures and traditions of the Church’s teachings.  It amazes me how the New Testament was so vividly foretold in the Old Testament and how wonderful and amazing God’s plan really is for us."
